SLAIN BY EAST SIDE THUGS
Soft-Drink Vendor Shot Down in Prince Street Doorway

As he stood smoking in the doorway of his soft-drink parlor at 10 Prince Street, west of the Bowery, at 6:45 o’clock last night, Angelo Greco, 48 years old, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen.

No motive for the murder was at once learned by the police, who merely said Greco had a police record and was believed to have engaged at times in occupations “where money is made more easily than by handling a shovel.”

Two men were in the soft-drink parlor when the shooting occurred. One fled after hearing the shots, but the second remained. He said he heard four shots, but was unable to see what happened. Two bullets struck Greco in the head and he died almost instantly. He lived at 95-15 Thirty-seventh Avenue, Queens. Detectives said Greco was under indictment and out on bail, but they were unable to say what the charges against him were.
