Exhibitions… a summer show

At the Yossi Milo Gallery, “Sexy and the City,” a group show with only one Weegee photo, “Lovers at the Palace Theater” ca. 1945. I believe the gallery dated it ca. 1955, called it a vintage print and were asking $25,000 (I could be wrong, this is from memory). The negative was probably made in ca. 1945, but the print was probably made 1955-1960. The print was hung about three feet above eye level, so with out a ladder it was impossible to look closely.
We left work early to see this show, since we had read that it had at least one Weegee photo, and it wasn’t worth it. It’s more-or-less a small wall with about 20 photos, most black and white, many from 1950s to early 60s. (Few things are less sexy than a Nan Goldin photo.) And only one Weegee photo, and not the most exciting image…
