…from the Internet auction grave.

On March 27th, 2011, this photo sold for $460.00.

Wee wrote about it here

On June 12th, 2011, the same photo sold for $138.27.
(Unfortunately some of the writing on the back was erased…)

Interestingly, this image is only a small portion, an 8th perhaps, of the entire 4×5 negative…

Wee saw this photo recently at an online auction…
It sold for $1,118.99.

Wee don’t think that it was made by Weegee… It’s Weegee-esque, but doesn’t have the usual marks, stamps, etc… We’re searching for the publication…

[Editors note: Five years ago we were very skeptical about the attribution of many photos that were allegedly made by Weegee… Now we would probably write something like: this photo was probably made by Weegee… 01/2016]

Surprisingly there’s only one Weegee photo in the Metropolitan’s otherwise great little show: “<a href="http://www.metmuseum.org/special/se_event.asp?OccurrenceId=%7B4F9E1DE0-D720-40FF-ACF3-ACFA8C4673A7%7D
“>Night Vision: Photography After Dark.”

Nevertheless, it’s a great photo and appeared to get the most attention (and OMGs and LOLs) and was looked at the closest and longest…

The other photos can be seen <a href="http://www.metmuseum.org/works_of_art/collection_database/gallerylistview.aspx?dd1=84
“>here…

An excellent database record can be seen here…
